WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT

THANK YOU to everyone who called and wrote legislators in support of the Hmong Museum. Legislators got your message and were impressed. We had a great hearing in the House of Representatives last week. Mai Vang, founder & chair of Hmong Museum, did a wonderful job testifying and gave a compelling case for why Minnesota needs the Hmong Museum.

Where are we in the process?

Minnesota has a 2 body legislature: the House of Representatives and the Senate. Each side will work on their own bills and then will meet together to come up with one final bill.

The House has heard our bill and passed it! The Senate has not. So this week, we want you to help us reach out to the Senate and ask them to hear and pass our bill.

How can you help?

1. Let legislators know Hmong Museum is important! It’s simple, all you need to do is write or call Legacy Finance Committee.

2. Show up! Hmong Museum has a hearing with the Senate Committee on Monday, April 8th at 1:00 PM at the State Capitol G-15  Let us know if you can come >

Dear Senator [Add name here…]

Hmong Museum is important to me and my family because they provide experiences not found anywhere else, including…

  • Teaching of traditional Hmong embroidery, paj ntaub
  • Bringing together Hmong elders and Hmong artists to create original performances
  • Providing film making skills to Hmong students in order to capture Hmong Secret War Veterans stories

Their work will help preserve Hmong history, stories and culture for generations to come.
